Tom Viertel

Since 1985, Tom Viertel, in association with his partners Steve Baruch, Richard Frankel and Marc Routh and sometimes with others, have produced numerous Broadway, Off-Broadway, national and international productions, which have gone on to win Pulitzer, Tony, Obie, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Grammy awards. Among these are: PENN & TELLER, DRIVING MISS DAISY, FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE, THE COCKTAIL HOUR, LOVE LETTERS, SONG OF SINGAPORE, MARVIN’S ROOM, OLEANNA, JEFFREY, LATER LIFE, ANGELS IN AMERICA, DAMN YANKEES, FOREVER TANGO, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE (the longest running musical revue in Broadway history), THE MOST FABULOUS STORY EVER TOLD, THE WEIR, THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP, and the first-ever Broadway revival of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

In 2001, Viertel and his partners’ projects include the national tour of SWING!; the Manhattan Theatre Club production of the new musical TIME AND AGAIN (developed at the O’Neill in 1993), Theatre de Complicite’s MNEMONIC and Mel Brooks’ musical THE PRODUCERS, winner of 12 Tony Awards. Viertel regularly serves as guest speaker at theatrical seminars and panels and has lectured on theatrical producing at New York University and at other colleges. In addition to his theatrical producing career, Viertel is an officer of Presidential Realty Corporation, a Real Estate Investment Trust that owns and operates income producing property in the Eastern United States and Puerto Rico.
