On Friday, March 31, Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2, students enrolled in the O'Neill's National Theater Institute will perform work they have developed with Guest Artist faculty. These performances are the culmination of NTI Workshop Week, a series of specialized study and workshops in different aspects of performance. All performances are free and open to the public. Please refer to the descriptions below for performance locations.

On Friday, March 31, the students will present an NTI Cabaret Evening, performing songs they have worked on with composer and voice coach Beth Falcone, an O'Neill Cabaret Conference musical director and performer. This casual evening will be at the Dina Merrill Theater at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, 305 Great Neck Road, Waterford at 8:00 P.M.

On Saturday, April 1, the NTI Company will present Greek Shards: An Evening of Chorus Pieces from Greek Drama. Under the direction of Michael Hackett, Professor at UCLA's Department of Television, Film and Theater, who has researched and developed a unique choral style, the company will present this ensemble-based and extraordinarily dynamic performance. Greek Shards will be at the Dina Merrill Theater at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, 305 Great Neck Road, Waterford at 8:00 P.M.

On Sunday, April 2, the students will present SOLOS: An Evening of Performance Pieces from the National Theater Institute Company at Kream Coffee Bar & Lounge, 318 State Street, New London. Each student will present a five-minute original piece, under the guidance of David M. White, a playwright and the O'Neill's Literary Manager. These performances display the students' work in storytelling and use the performance skills they have developed while in residence at the O'Neill since January.

The National Theater Institute, a program of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, under the direction of David B. Jaffe, was founded in 1970. NTI is a fully-accredited, conservatory-based theater training semester for college students, and is offered each fall and spring. NTI students follow a seven-day-a-week schedule of training with resident and guest faculty at the O'Neill Center. In addition to this rigorous schedule of conservatory classes led by leading theater professionals, students attend performances and meet with artists at New York and regional theaters. NTI also offers an accredited semester of study abroad at the Moscow Art Theater. Its summer program, Theatermakers, gives advanced students and recent graduates workshops and classes along with the opportunity to develop their own projects and participate as assistants to professional artists during the O'Neill's National Playwrights and National Music Theater Conferences.
